Hannah Monson Matthews
1928 ~ 2010
Our Loving Sweet Mother Hannah Beth Monson Matthews passed away July 10th 2010, at the age of 82.
Hannah was born June 8, 1928, to Ivan Bayard and Ruth May Monson in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She was raised with her older sister VerVene and younger brother LaMar who preceded her in death. Hannah lived in Manila all of her life and met many long-lasting faithful friends there. She talked often of the many fun times she had growing up and the fond memories of cousins and friends. She met Earl Wayne Matthews and married September 17, 1947, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were blessed with 7 children. Earl passed away August 18, 1985.
Hannah worked in many capacities in the LDS Church and loved every calling she was called to. She especially enjoyed her work in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. She enjoyed working as a lunch lady and met wonderful women who became life-long friends. We will miss her fast wit, sense of humor and most of all her hugs, kisses, smiles and waves good-bye. She loved sending time up American Fork Canyon, breath-taking Mt. Timpanogos, Strawberry Days, bowling and playing tennis.
Hannah accomplished many talents and achievements in her life, but her lasting joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by David Matthews (Mona) American Fork; Gayle (Jeff) Ewell, Ferron; Joyce (Robert) Burr, Orem; Lynn Matthews (Geanie) Pleasant Grove; Boyd Matthews (Dwight Lindsay), Sandy; Jeanette (Joe) Warnick, Pleasant Grove; and Steven Matthews (deceased), 24 Grandchildren and 50 Great Grandchildren.
Also surviving Hannah are three sisters-in-law: LaRee Black, Betty Matthews and Sue Martin and 2 brothers-in-law: Glade Matthews and Dale Matthews and many loving nieces and nephews.
We as Hannah's family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living for taking such good care of our Mother. Also, thanks to the many friends and family that took the time to visit her. She truly loved and enjoyed each visit.
"Life isn't days and years, it's what you do with the time and with all the goodness and grace that's inside you. Make a beautiful life. The kind of life you deserve.."

She is a perfect example of a Grandma! She will be missed, but she is much happier now. What a reunion that must have been! Rest piecfully Grandma...until we meet again.
It's always hard to say good-bye to our loved ones even when you know they are in a much happier place. She was so sweet every time we would walk by her house with our kids.
