Treasure the Moment

One of my favorite talks this last General Conference was Daughters of God by M. Russell Ballard. I really felt like he was talking to me. This is one of my favorite quotes from that talk.

Author Anna Quindlen reminds us not to rush past the fleeting moments. She said "The biggest mistake I made as a young parent is the one that most of us make.... I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of my three childen sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages 6, 4 and 1. And how I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book and bed. I wish I had treasured the going a little more and the getting done a little less."

I LOVED his talk, and this part especially. Sometimes, I look back at our pictures when we were little and think that same thing. WE sure did have fun.

That talk was the best. I've been trying to do the same. Sometimes it's hard, but I don't wanna miss out on their cuteness while they're little. Thanks for reminding me.
